“Welcome class, to American History one-oh-one.”
Tina took a seat next to Karen-Carlos.
“This class is actually really fun.”
He beamed.
“I think we get to learn about the Stonewall Riots this year!”
Tina froze up.
This school was named after a series of riots?!
“Well, where’s my goodbye kiss then?”
Tina knew that voice. She looked over at the door and saw Bobby…..again.
“Fine Bobby-Bear, come here.”

Martine sat Tina down at the spray-paint pink table.
“Tina, meet Las Divas Vidas!”
He bent over to whisper in her ear.
“It means ‘The Living Divas’.”
Tina nodded and waved at the four other boys.

One of the boys stood up and walked over to Tina’s side of the table. Tina was stunned by how he was dressed. His eyes were layered with green eye-shadow and eyeliner and his lips looked smooth and glossy. He had a small green bow in his short black hair. The next two classes rolled by slowly, and Tina had to roll along with them. She felt relieved by the time the lunch bell rang; But as she walked out to the courtyard, it seemed like things were only going to get worse.
As she made her way over to an empty table, most of the conversations had stopped and it was totally silent. The only ones talking were Bobby and her friends. As she sat down, the silence began to break and people picked up their previous conversations.
“God, what a horrible day.”
